Salam Al Obaidi and Liberato Ferrara awarded with the Outstanding Paper Award

Dr. Salam Al Obaidi, former doctoral candidate of our Ph.D. program in Seismic and Geotechnical Structural Engineering, along with Professor Liberato Ferrara, has been awarded the prestigious “Outstanding Paper Award” by the journal Materials and Structures for the article titled “Effect of matrix self-healing on the bond-slip behavior of micro steel fibers in ultra-high-performance concrete” (2023) by Salam Al-Obaidi, Shan He, Erik Schlangen & Liberato Ferrara.

This recognition was granted by the Scientific Committee of Materials and Structures, the flagship publication of RILEM (International Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials, Systems, and Structures).

Annually, the Scientific Committee selects up to ten papers (top 5% of articles published by the journal each year) to be published as open-access papers, representing excellence in the RILEM scientific community.

The research was made possible through collaboration between our department and TUDelft (Delft University of Technology) within the Enhance alliance. This initiative has fostered collaboration among high-level research institutions, promoting the mobility of young researchers and the sharing of expertise.
