VPN Global Protect

Autorizzazione
Il servizio di VPN funziona dietro richiesta e su autorizzazione. Inviare la richiesta tramite il servizio di trouble ticketing ( link ) indicando la propria posizione contrattuale con il DICA, l’eventuale professore di riferimento e la scadenza del servizio. Per gli studenti di laurea la richiesta deve necessariamente essere fatta dal professore di riferimento.

Configurazione

Collegarsi alla pagina gp-dica-saml.vpn.polimi.it , inserire, se richieste, le credenziali Polimi e scaricare il client per il proprio sistema operativo (si noti che il nome di login è nella forma XXXXXXXX@polimi.it , dove XXXXXXXX è il proprio codice identificativo di Ateneo).
Cliccare sul programma scaricato e installare l’applicativo, dando le autorizzazioni richieste.

Connessione alla rete Polimi

Lanciare l’eseguibile appena installato tramite l’icona con l’immagine del planisfero in basso a destra sulla barra applicazioni, e sulla finestra dell’applicazione inserire il server:
gp-dica-saml.vpn.polimi.it
Si aprirà una finestra del browser predefinito e verrà richiesta l’autenticazione tramite credenziali di Ateneo. Dopo qualche secondo la finestra dell’applicazione mostrerà la scritta “Connecting” e infine la scritta “Connected”. La VPN è ora attiva.

Request and authorization

The VPN service is granted upon request, which must be submitted through the ticketing interface ( form ); the request text must contain the description of the position held at DICA, the expiring date and, if  applicable, a name of an internal referee. For Master Students the request must be submitted by the Advisor.

Configuration

Download and install the VPN GlobalProtect client
Go to the gp-dica-saml.vpn.polimi.it page; enter, if requested, the Polimi credentials and download the client for your operating system (note that the login name is  XXXXXXXX@polimi.it , where XXXXXXXX stands for your Polimi identification code).
Click on the downloaded program and install the application, granting  the required permissions.

Connection to the Polimi network

Run the executable file just installed clicking on the icon with the image of the world map in the bottom right of the application bar. In the application window enter the server:
gp-dica-saml.vpn.polimi.it
A default browser window will open and authentication via Polimi credentials will be requested. After a few seconds the application window will show the words “Connecting” and finally the words “Connected”. The VPN is now active.
