Geotechnical Materials, Processes and Models Laboratory

The main activities carried out in the laboratory are: the advanced characterization of the hydro-mechanical behaviour of geo-materials subject to variable stresses over time, also as a result of multi-physical processes (electrical, thermal, chemical)- for applications in civil, environmental and energy engineering; the analysis of the response of geotechnical systems to static and dynamic stresses; the design, implementation and interpretation of small-scale numerical and physical models for the study of problems of interaction between soil, environment and structures; the development of systems, tools and technologies for the execution of load tests and in situ geotechnical monitoring, and the support to the planning of short and long term in situ campaigns for the monitoring of geotechnical systems.
