High-Performance Computing (HPC) Infrastructure at DICA
High-Performance Computing (HPC) is extensively used at DICA to model phenomena and process data using a wide variety of computational tools, ranging from software developed in-house at the Department to major commercial software suites.
While researchers frequently utilize some of the largest HPC infrastructure centers worldwide, such as CINECA, a smaller on-premises facility has been set up to handle lighter computational tasks and testing.
Technical Specifications
The current infrastructure consists of a cluster featuring 19 computational nodes and 2 service nodes:
-
Processor: Each computational node is equipped with two Intel Xeon Gold CPUs, delivering a total of 56 cores per node.
-
Memory: 512 GB ECC RAM per node.
-
Operative system: RockyLinux 9
-
Hosting & Access: The cluster is hosted within the Politecnico Server Farm to ensure maximum availability and business continuity. It is securely accessible to authorized users via the departmental VPN.
Operational since June 2025
