The main topics covered by the laboratory cover all aspects inherent to the life cycle of transport infrastructures (conception, design, construction, adaptation, management, maintenance, and control), in particular:
- study, development, and testing of ordinary, innovative, recycled/reused, and alternative materials;
- research and development of advanced and sustainable production and processing technologies and methodologies;
- experimental activities at different scales, from the laboratory to the pilot implementation of full-scale solutions;
- field testing and monitoring for major infrastructural projects;
- design and development of new materials and testing equipment, up to the prototype and/or patent level;
- specialist consultancy in regulatory, design, and litigation matters;
- development of models and methods for road and airport safety analysis;
- collaborations with companies in the sector.
These activities support the development of advanced solutions for the improvement of transport infrastructures, with a focus on technological innovation, sustainability, safety, and collaboration with the industrial sector.
