Carlo De Michele, Professor of Hydrology at our Department, has received two prestigious recognitions from theAmerican Geophysical Union (AGU).
He has been elected AGU Union Fellow, the Union’s highest honour for scientists who have made exceptional contributions to the Earth and space sciences through breakthroughs, discoveries, or innovations. Established in 1962, the distinction is awarded each year to no more than 0.1% of AGU members and includes induction into the AGU College of Fellows.
Professor De Michele has also received the Gilbert F. White Award and Distinguished Lecture, awarded by AGU’s Natural Hazards Section in recognition of significant contributions to the study of natural hazards and disaster risks. Named after Gilbert F. White, a pioneer in flood-risk management, the award includes an invitation to deliver the Gilbert F. White Distinguished Lecture at AGU’s annual Fall Meeting.
Both honours will be celebrated during AGU26, the Union's annual meeting, to be held in San Francisco in December 2026.
