Gli eventi hanno lo scopo di fornire un luogo dove creare un\u00a0<strong>network<\/strong>\u00a0tra dottorandi ed entrare in contatto con i molti<strong>\u00a0progetti<\/strong>\u00a0sviluppati nel nostro dipartimento.<\/p>\n<p>La speaker <strong>Paula Martina Barbato<\/strong>\u00a0condurr\u00e0 un seminario dal titolo\u00a0<strong>\u201c<span data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">Life Cycle Assessment of E-Diesel production<\/span><\/strong><strong>\u201d<\/strong>.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Al termine dell\u2019evento sar\u00e0 disponibile un piccolo rinfresco finanziato dal dipartimento.<\/p>\n<p>Sar\u00e0 possibile seguire la conferenza anche online al seguente\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/politecnicomilano.webex.com\/meet\/marco.davolio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>link<\/em><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abstract<br \/>\n<\/strong>In recent years, electrofuels (e-fuels) have gained increasing attention as a promising alternative to conventional fossil fuels, offering a potential pathway for decarbonising multiple sectors. Synthesised from hydrogen and carbon dioxide (CO2) using renewable energy, e-fuels are currently being discussed within the European automotive policy framework as a possible solution to enable the continued registration of new internal combustion engine (ICE) passenger vehicles beyond 2035.<\/p>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">So far, most research has focused on their use in hard-to-electrify sectors, leaving their potential role in passenger road transport underexplored. This talk investigates the environmental performance of e-diesel production through the application of the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology. Six production scenarios, differing in CO2 sources, electricity supply mixes, and methodological choices, are investigated and compared. By examining these variations, the study aims to identify under which conditions e-diesel could provide environmental improvements compared to fossil diesel, and whether it can truly represent a bridge toward a more sustainable transport future.<\/div>\n<p><strong>Speaker\u2019s bio<br \/>\n<\/strong>Paula holds an MSc in Environmental and Land Planning Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano (2023) and is currently in the final year of her PhD (39th cycle).
