Gli eventi hanno lo scopo di fornire un luogo dove creare un\u00a0<strong>network<\/strong>\u00a0tra dottorandi ed entrare in contatto con i molti<strong>\u00a0progetti<\/strong>\u00a0sviluppati nel nostro dipartimento.<\/p>\n<p>Lo speaker <strong>Matteo Corigliano <\/strong>condurr\u00e0 un seminario dal titolo\u00a0<strong>\u201cAssessment and retrofitting of deep foundations of existing\u00a0bridges<\/strong><strong>\u201d<\/strong>.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Al termine dell\u2019evento sar\u00e0 disponibile un piccolo rinfresco finanziato dal dipartimento.<\/p>\n<p>Sar\u00e0 possibile seguire la conferenza anche online al seguente\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/politecnicomilano.webex.com\/wbxmjs\/joinservice\/sites\/politecnicomilano\/meeting\/download\/fad501f716032432954a94fb5e6e4729\"><strong><em>link<\/em><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abstract<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>Most of the infrastructures in Europe are approaching their design life and, therefore, their safety\u00a0has to\u00a0be reassessed according to the more severe design standards.\u00a0\u00a0Nowadays the foundations of existing bridges are verified using models based on simplified assumptions, which make the retrofitting measures often unsustainable.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0ultimate goal\u00a0of the research is the introduction of a tool, allowing a rapid and reliable evaluation of the foundation performance and providing hints for the most rational retrofitting.\u00a0To this aim, the results of finite element numerical analyses on a real case study have been theoretically interpreted, obtaining significant insight in the mechanical response of pile groups. The innovative tool under development will lead to a more aware and sustainable design of bridge foundations retrofitting measures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Speaker\u2019s bio:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Matteo\u00a0is\u00a0PhD candidate in\u00a0Structural\u00a0Seismic\u00a0and\u00a0Geotechnical\u00a0Engineering and\u00a0has\u00a0a Master degree in\u00a0Civil\u00a0Engineering \u2013\u00a0Geotechnics.<br \/>\nHis\u00a0mainreserach\u00a0interest\u00a0is\u00a0the interaction\u00a0between\u00a0soil\u00a0and\u00a0critical\u00a0infrastructures\u00a0(bridges,\u00a0emnbankments\u00a0and\u00a0tunnels).<br \/>\nHe is now focused on the assessment and retrofitting of deep foundations of existing bridges.<br \/>\nHe spends his free time playing tennis, skiing and honing\u00a0his photography skills.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Il prossimo appuntamento con la serie di incontri\u00a0PhDTalks\u00a0si terr\u00e0\u00a0Marted\u00ec 13 Giugno nell\u2019aula 2.1.3\u00a0(Edificio 2),\u00a0dalle 17:15 alle 18:30 CET.
