Gli eventi hanno lo scopo di fornire un luogo dove creare un\u00a0<strong>network<\/strong>\u00a0tra dottorandi ed entrare in contatto con i molti<strong>\u00a0progetti<\/strong>\u00a0sviluppati nel nostro dipartimento.<\/p>\n<p>Lo speaker\u00a0<strong>Giacomo Rizzieri <\/strong>condurr\u00e0 un seminario dal titolo\u00a0<strong>\u201cNumerical simulation of 3D Concrete Printing: challenges and opportunities\u201d<\/strong>.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Al termine dell\u2019evento sar\u00e0 disponibile un piccolo rinfresco finanziato dal dipartimento.<\/p>\n<p>Sar\u00e0 possibile seguire la conferenza anche online al seguente\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/politecnicomilano.webex.com\/wbxmjs\/joinservice\/sites\/politecnicomilano\/meeting\/download\/fad501f716032432954a94fb5e6e4729\"><strong><em>link<\/em><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abstract<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>3D Concrete Printing (3DCP) is rapidly gaining momentum in the building industry, as it could be the way to achieve a fully automatized and more sustainable construction process. However, before a large-scale adoption of this technology takes place, it is necessary to address some issues both at the practical and numerical levels. The development of reliable computational tools would provide a better understanding of the printing process, while also enabling the prediction, in a design framework, of its outcomes. In this talk, it is presented a numerical model to simulate the extrusion and layer deposition phases of cementitious materials. The model assimilates fresh concrete to a homogeneous weakly-compressible fluid and solves the Navier-Stokes equations in a Lagrangian framework with the Particle Finite Element Method (PFEM). Different numerical challenges will be addressed regarding the imposition of time-dependent moving boundary conditions, the accurate treatment of inter-layer contact and the reduction of the computational cost.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Speaker\u2019s bio:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Giacomo is a PhD Candidate in Structural, Seismic and Geotechnical Engineering (37\u00b0 cycle) at Politecnico di Milano. He has a Master of Science in Structural Engineering obtained in 2021 at Politecnico di Milano. Currently, he is in the second year of his PhD and he is involved in the development of new computational tools to simulate 3D Concrete Printing.
