DESCRIPTION:L’ECOSOC ha istituito il Comitato di Esperti come meccanismo intergovernativo di vertice per prendere decisioni congiunte e definire gli orientamenti per quanto riguarda la produzione\, la disponibilità e l’uso delle informazioni geospaziali all’interno di contesti politici nazionali\, regionali e globali. Guidato dagli Stati membri delle Nazioni Unite\, l’UN-GGIM mira ad affrontare le sfide globali riguardanti l’uso delle informazioni geospaziali\, anche nelle agende di sviluppo\, e funge da organismo per la definizione di politiche globali nel campo della gestione delle informazioni geospaziali.
