We would like to thank Prof. Monica Riva for her service as Science Officer of the Subsurface Hydrology (Groundwater) subdivision of EGU- European Geosciences Union (https://www.egu.eu/hs/home/EGU).  The subdivision acts as a focal point for the European hydrological community working on problems related to groundwater, by organizing conferences, running dedicated journals (https://www.hydrology-and-earth-system-sciences.net), encouraging the interaction of young and senior researchers, and circulating news and information that may be relevant to the hydrological community.
