DESCRIPTION:Short Course: “Sustainability and Social Inclusion in Public Decisions: The Provision and Management of Safe Water – A Case Study”\n\nDates & Times:\n\n1 December\, 14:15 – 18:15 (4h)\n3 December\, 9:15 – 18:15 (4+4h)\n4 December\, 14:15 – 18:15 (4h)\n5 December\, 9:15 – 18:15 (4+4 h)\n\nLocation: Aula Fassò\, Building 4A\, 1st floor\n\nCourse Description:\nThe seminar is open to students from all disciplines at Politecnico di Milano who are interested in exploring the challenges and opportunities related to water supply systems. It offers a multidisciplinary environment where participants can approach the topic from technical\, social\, economic\, and environmental perspectives.\nThroughout the seminar\, students will take part in both lectures and interactive sessions designed to encourage active participation. Discussion groups will be formed to facilitate the exchange of ideas\, experiences\, and viewpoints among students from diverse academic backgrounds. This participatory format aims to stimulate critical thinking and collaborative problem-solving around real-world issues in water supply and management.\nBy the end of the seminar\, participants will have gained not only a deeper understanding of participatory approaches to water supply but also practical insights into how community engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration can enhance the sustainability and equity of water systems.\n\nLearning Objectives:\n\nShare and compare realities regarding public policies focused on water supply in Italy and Vietnam\nIntroduce examples of participation and social inclusion in public decisions that contribute to equitable access to treated water in rural areas\n\nDuration: 25 hours\, distributed over 5 days\nMain Topics:\n\nParticipatory methods for environmental management\nThe use of focus groups in qualitative research\nInterview approaches and methodologies\nInterpretation of qualitative data\n\nSpeaker’s bio:\nDr. Eva Ferreira completed her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sanitation in 2012\, placing among the four best students in the group. Soon after\, she began her MBA in Environmental Planning and Management and in early 2013 she began her M.Sc. in Agronomy. Along with her Ph.D.\, she did another MBA in Waste and Wastewater Management. In 2016\, she was among five Brazilians selected by the Erasmus Mundus Association to receive the IBrasil scholarship to do a Sandwich Doctorate in Europe for 10 months. She was hired by the Erasmus Mundus Association to evaluate environmental management policies in Central Europe\, specifically in Slovakia and Austria. During this time\, she acquired in-depth knowledge about European Environmental Policies. With this opportunity she learned about different realities and presented Brazil at the International Conference of Young Scientists and Doctoral Students in Europe. Dr. Eva Ferreira has a Ph.D. in Sanitation\, Environment and Water Resources\, with M.Sc. in Agronomy\, an MBA in Project Management\, an MBA in Environmental Planning and Management and an MBA in Treatment and Final Disposal of Waste and Wastewater. She has been working as a Lecturer in Brazil (Federal University of Goiás and University of São Paulo)\, Vietnam (Vietnamese-German University)\, and Researcher in Portugal (University of Aveiro)\, the Netherlands (Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences) and Czech Republic (Tomas Bata University).
