Research activities

Oil is still a fundamental resource to satisfy the present energy demand. Understanding the interaction between water, oil and the subsurface rocks composing natural reservoirs is essential to improve the efficiency and sustainability of hydrocarbon explotation. Our research targets the water-energy nexus, where a scientific-based appraisal of the impact of enhanced oil recovery practices, on water and the environment resources is a major concern nowadays. Our research group has close links to the oil industry where our contribution is related to the design of advanced numerical methodologies and workflows.
