CRECHES AND DAY CARE CENTRES  IN MILAN

For the little ones, the Politecnico di Milano offers two day care centres – one in Via Valvassori Peroni (Campus LEONARDO), one in Via Durando (Campus BOVISA) – with 40 places in total. Children from 7 to 36 months are welcomed. 

Children are divided into two groups, according to their age.
- Toddlers -> from 7 to 18 months
- Kids -> from 19 to 36 months

Opening time: from September 1st to July 31st, Monday to Friday.
Opening hours
- Full time: from 8:00 to 18:30 (Via Peroni); from 8:15 at 18:15 (Via Durando)
- Part time: from 8:00 to 13:30 (Via Peroni);  from 8:15 to 13:30 (Via Durando). Lunch is included.

Who can benefit from this service?
Politecnico’s employees and everyone working for the University (included Ph.D.s, researchers, Post Docs). Students’ children are also admitted.

Access is granted according to two waiting lists, one for each age group. Parents with a lower income (established by the ISEE, the income-related indicator) and oldest children are given preference.

Application: follow the guidelines explained in the call (usually published around April or May). Please apply timely and respect the deadline.

Documents to be submitted:  
- Application form with the parents’ and the child or children’s personal data (form n. 3 is for Politecnico’s employees)
- Up-to-date ISEE statement  (not mandatory, but it is useful to qualify for lower fees)

The tuition fee depends on the income, as it is defined by the ISEE statement.
Parents are required to pay a deposit of € 150 upon registration, which will be then subtracted from the last tuition fee. Tuitions must be paid by the 5th of each month by bank transfer. Children,  whose parents fail to pay the fee for two months, lose the right to access the school.

DAY CARE CENTRES OF MILAN MUNICIPALITY

Day care centres for children aged 3-36 months are provided also by Milan municipality.
Tuition fees depend on the parents’ income (ISEE statement). There are discounts for families with more than one child attending the nursery school.

In addition, parents have to pay a non-refundable registration of € 52 (by postal payment slip).

How to enroll:

For information please check the call for enrollment of the school year 2017-2018 (in Italian).
Here the admission requirements in short:
- domicile in Milan (children living in another town cannot be admitted)
- child’s date of birth between January 1st, 2015 and May 31st, 2017 (for the school year 2017-2018)

You follow an online procedure: the call is usually published in March on the Milan Municipality website (please check the website regularly for updates).
In order to complete the online procedure you need a PIN code: download here the form, fill it in and send it by fax to the n. 02 88 44 21 29, together with a copy of your ID.

The final waiting list is usually published at the beginning of June. If your child has obtained a place, you must within 5 working days from the publication of the results:
- accept the place by filling in the form available at the School Office, which the nursery school you have been assigned, belongs to
- pay the registration fee (€ 52) by postal pay slip

If there are still places available, an extra call for the selection is organized in September.

PRIVATE CRECHES AND DAY CARE CENTRES IN MILAN

If you prefer a private crèche, Milan offers one of the vastest array in Italy, which includes bilingual nursery schools, parish schools, crèches with music or sport activities, etc.

KINDERGARTENS OF MILAN MUNICIPALITY

Milan provides a number of kindergartens for children aged 3 - 6.
For the school year 2017-2018 parents of children born between January 1st, 2012 and December 31st, 2014 can apply. Only in case of further availability children born between January 1st , 2015 and April 31st, 2015 are allowed.
2-year old children (born between January 1st and August 31st) can be enrolled to ‘Early classrooms’ (Sezioni primavera).

Kindergarten attendance is free. Only a small contribution for the canteen is required.

Opening hours: Monday to Friday, approximately from 9:00 to 16:00. Parents can ask for a pre-school (from 7:30) and an after-school service (to 17:30 - 18:00).

Admission to kindergarten follows the same rules established for nursery schools (living in Milan is compulsory). Enrollment is performed online, following the instructions published on the Milan council website (call in Italian only).

 

PRIVATE KINDERGARTENS IN MILAN

Milan offers a wide selection of private kindergartens (monthly fees from 300-400€), where children are accepted all year round, depending on availability.
